3. Initiated Phase III of the Cancer Research Program (2018–2021)
In regard to optimization of domestic treatment guidelines and the introduction of international treatment guidelines to improve the survival rate of patients. Our research demonstrated current guidelines for living donor liver transplantation for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma can be optimized by downstaging treatment, positron emission tomography, and alpha-fetoprotein.
Our research showed the survival rate increases by 30% for patients under age 35 with acute lymphoid leukemia if choose the children acute lymphoid leukemia treatment in comparison to traditional adult acute lymphoid leukemia treatment. This new guideline has
been implemented in domestic hospitals already.
▏Section 3 Application Service of Health and Welfare Research
1. Management of Applications Service Platform
In 2021, the Health and Welfare Data Science Center (HWDC) cooperated in the plan of "Health Statistics Sustainable Platform," established 5 seats in the health statistics area, and planned encrypted comparison mechanism with National Center of High- performance Computing, and completed data transfer drills.
2. In 2021, there were 103 databases open for application, and 125 computers available on daily basis. Responding to the pandemic of COVID-19, services have reduced. People served each day and annual use cases have reduced slightly. (Table 12-1)

3. Promoting Database Leading to R&D of Biomedicine
The MOHW Science and Technology team arranged the cross-sectoral plan of health statistics sustainable platform. In 2021, all the theme databases are established according to HL7 FHIR data exchange format were confirmed, database structure referring to All of US Research Program. At the same time, also announced the real word evidence indices, guided industrial academic, research,
and medical fields to use health statistics, and promoted R&D of biomedicine.
Chapter 2 International Cooperation
In this era of globalization, Taiwan actively participates in international health cooperation and emergency humanitarian assistance by contributing our skills in medicine and sharing our experiences and achievements.
